Best dividend stocks and ETFs
A shortlist of established dividend payers that pass a few simple quality checks: a meaningful yield, a payout the company can cover, a dividend that has not been cut, and no high payout eating into the share price. It is a starting point for research, not a recommendation.
How this list is built: Drawn from about 230 widely held US-listed dividend stocks and ETFs. Included when the yield is 3% to 10%, the share price is at least $5, the payout ratio is 100% of earnings or less (not applied to REITs and funds, which are judged on other measures), dividends paid over the last 12 months are no more than 5% below the 12 months before, and high payers (8% or more) have not seen their price fall 10% or more in a year. Sorted by yield. Refreshed daily from our dividend data.

How we pick
We start from a fixed list of about 230 widely held dividend stocks and dividend ETFs and keep their data current every day. A stock or fund only appears here when it passes every check below, so the list changes as prices move and companies announce dividends.
1. A yield worth having, but not a warning sign
Yield must be between 3% and 10%. Below 3% the income is modest; well above 10% the market is often pricing in a cut, or the payout is coming out of the investment itself.
2. A payout the company can cover
For ordinary companies the payout ratio (dividends as a share of earnings) must be 100% or less. REITs and funds are exempt because accounting earnings understate their cash flow; for them, the dividend history and price checks matter more.
3. No recent dividend cut
Dividends paid over the last 12 months must be no more than 5% below the 12 months before. A cut is the clearest sign of strain, and a small allowance keeps funds with naturally varying payouts in.
4. No payouts eating into the price
If a stock or fund yields 8% or more and its share price fell 10% or more over the past year, it is left out. A very high payout does not help if the price keeps sliding.
What this list does not tell you
These checks use past data and can miss what comes next. Look at each company's results, debt and outlook, think about how a holding fits your portfolio, and remember that dividends can be cut at any time. Nothing here is investment advice.
Frequently asked questions
What makes a dividend stock one of the best?
There is no single answer, but most investors look for a reasonable yield, a payout the company can afford, a record of keeping or growing the dividend, and a business that is not shrinking. This list applies simple versions of those checks.
Why is my favorite dividend stock missing?
It may yield under 3% or over 10%, have a payout ratio above 100%, have cut its dividend in the past year, or be outside the roughly 230 stocks and ETFs we track for this list. Its stock page still shows its dividend data.
Are REITs and ETFs included?
Yes. REITs and funds are exempt from the payout-ratio check, because accounting earnings are a poor guide to what they can pay, but they must pass the other checks.
How often does the list change?
Prices and yields update daily, and each stock's full dividend history is refreshed weekly, so stocks can move in and out as their numbers change.
