Tech dividend stocks

Technology companies traditionally reinvested their profits rather than paying dividends, but many mature tech businesses now pay one, often growing it quickly from a low base. Yields are usually modest, so investors in tech dividend stocks tend to focus on dividend growth and total return rather than current income.

How this list is built: US-listed stocks in the Technology sector in our data with a yield of 0.5% to 12% and a share price of at least $5. The payout ratio must be 100% of earnings or less; where the dividend history allows, dividends paid over the last 12 months must be no more than 5% below the 12 months before, and high payers (8% or more) whose share price fell 10% or more over the past year are left out. Highest yield first. Refreshed daily from our dividend data.

Low yield, fast growth

Many tech companies have low payout ratios and strong cash flow, which leaves room to raise dividends quickly. A 1% yield growing 10% a year doubles in about seven years.

Buybacks matter too

Tech companies often return more cash through share buybacks than dividends. Fewer shares outstanding means each remaining share gets a larger slice of future profits and dividends.

Frequently asked questions

Which tech companies pay dividends?

Many large, established technology companies pay dividends, including makers of software, semiconductors and IT services. This list shows the ones in our data with a covered dividend, ranked by yield.

Why are tech dividend yields low?

Tech companies usually pay out a small share of earnings and their share prices are high relative to profits, so the yield is modest. Many grow their dividends quickly instead.
